Roland received his B.S. in Accounting from Manchester College, No. Manchester, Indiana in 1977. He was first licensed as a CPA in Indiana in 1980, upon completing Indiana's 3-year experience requirement. Prior to establishing his own CPA firm in 2003, his experience included:
- 4 years at a Regional CPA firm in Fort Wayne, Indiana, where he performed audit, accounting and tax services for a variety of small and medium-sized companies engaged in manufacturing, distribution, service and other industries, and helped business owners and other professionals minimize their taxes.
- 2 years with the tax department of a "Big 4" CPA firm in Houston, Texas, where he gained experience dealing with the tax issues of companies with international operations and their "expatriate" executives; helped businesses across a broad spectrum of industries, in particular oil & gas, high-tech, real estate, and farming and ranching; and assisted high-net-worth individuals with tax planning and compliance.
- 8 years at a major oilfield services company in Houston, where he became Chief Financial Officer. His responsibilities included administration and management, operations, accounting & reporting, SEC matters, budgeting & forecasting, taxation, risk management, treasury functions, contract negotiations, mergers & acquisitions, capital formation, lender & investor relations, and information technology.
- 7 years as Managing Partner of a boutique investment banking firm, where he assisted companies with corporate finance and mergers, acquisitions & divestitures, and helped start-up companies structure their organizations and obtain venture capital.
